Overall Rating: 3 / 5 I don't love leaving 3-star reviews, but for a restaurant operating at a fine-dining price point, a few key aspects of the meal fell short of our expectations. I understand it’s a new spot and there are always opening kinks to iron out, so hopefully this feedback helps! We started with the octopus. Overall, the flavor was good, but the octopus itself was slightly tough and the confit potatoes were undercooked. On a very positive note, the complimentary bruschetta was incredible—so many places drop the ball on simple dishes, but this was executed perfectly. We ordered the veal and the Chilean seabass. We both thoroughly enjoyed our entrees—flavorful and well-prepared, especially the mashed potatoes- wow ! Unfortunately, we had to send the dessert back. The chocolate crème brûlée was less of a crème brûlée and more like a dense chocolate pudding topped with a sugar crust so thick it couldn't be broken. At this price point, the culinary execution requires more refinement to match the fine dining ambition. There is definitely potential here, but it was a miss today. Also it was my wife's birthday which I confirmed with the restaurant prior via email. They did not acknowledge this at all during our time in the restaurant. Generally a fine dining establishment goes out of their way to make occasions special, so this was a little disappointing.
My husband and I had an amazing meal here for our anniversary. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chilean seabass with saffron risotto and my husband had the delicious pasta pillows as well as the onion soup. Everything was high quality! The setting was quiet and intimate and the chef even stopped by to check on our meal. We highly recommend a visit here if you are looking for high quality food a bit away from the immediate tourist destinations!
The food was so good and service was amazing. I'm already craving another bowl of the onion soup. Can't wait to go back!
Dining at Mdina was an unforgettable experience. Before choosing where to dine for our tenth anniversary I read many reviews and asked for recommendations. I wanted the experience to be special, upscale and most of all a meal to remember. When I saw the recommendation for a place I had never heard of Mdina, I knew I had to dig deeper. After reading reviews, perusing the menu and hearing the story of the restaurant I knew this was the place. As busy parents of four young children we don't get the chance to get out much so I had high expectations going in. I was not disappointed. The restaurant was small, quiet and intimate. It was the perfect date night setting. Every aspect of our night was a pleasure. Our servers were knowledgeable, offered great recommendations and nothing felt rushed. The food was generously served, the plating was beautiful and the flavours were beyond impeccable. The food was satisfying but not heavy. All the ingredients were so fresh. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into the menu. Thank you for a wonderful experience! I cannot wait to come back many more times.
We had the chance to try Medina Fine Dining this past weekend and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Niagara-on-the-Lake in a long time. The food is simply spectacular. The octopus special was, without exaggeration, the best octopus we’ve had anywhere in North America - perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. The calamari was completely off the charts… a 15 out of 10. Every dish felt like it was prepared with real care, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of flavor. Beyond the food, the entire experience stands out. The chef came out to speak with guests and was warm, personable, and clearly passionate about what he’s creating. The staff were attentive without ever feeling rushed, and the service was polished and welcoming from start to finish. Niagara-on-the-Lake has some wonderful restaurants, but this new addition is something special. If you appreciate thoughtfully prepared food and a memorable dining experience, Medina is absolutely a must-try.
