I thought Hong Shing was quite the bomb, but my last visit there was quite a disappointment. Then i saw this restaurant right in front and my interest was piqued. A month later, I came by to have dinner and oh my goodness, the food at the place tasted like one of my aunties made it. The chicken and corn soup for app, spicy crispy shrimp, beef and chinese broccoli + rice for dinner. Everything was well seasoned — even the soup (I was so pleased that I didn’t have to add any more soy sauce because it was so balanced!), the shrimp was spicy and delightfully crisp (the batter was so light) and the last dish was also well executed. Dinner was awfully quiet because it was so good and we were just focused and in awe over the quality of the food. It’s really an IYKYK spot, one that I’m a new fan of and I cannot wait to come back and try out their lobsters and crabs! Service was friendly, space was clean. Please pay them a visit if you’re in the area!
THE FOOD IS ALWAYS AMAZING. Always fresh and fast. Tiny little restaurant on a little side street near University and Dundas. Must try the chili fish on steamed rice and their whole Lobster cooked in black bean sauce, its to die for. They cut it perfectly, nice and meaty!! Lunch special portions are enough to share, totally worth the $13.95... Was there today, came from Brampton...
We’ve been coming to Wah Too since we were kids, and it will always be one of my favourite spots in the city. The owners have treated our family with such kindness over the years, and it’s become a place we’ve shared with extended family, who now go just as often. The spicy shrimp is hands down the best I’ve ever had, and the food never disappoints. Yes, the restaurant is a little dated, but that’s part of its charm. Walking in feels like stepping back into my childhood, and I genuinely hope they never change a thing. Some places are special because they stay true to who they are, and Wah Too is one of them. ❤️

It’s the kind of spot that keeps you coming back year after year, even from far away.

When a place has you driving 100km just to eat there once a year, you know it’s something special.
