Checked out Street Grill Bar in downtown Toronto. The food is really good. The service is good as well. The beef and lamb skewers are well-seasoned and delicious. The tofu skin rolls are packed with spam, lettuce and onion, brushed with homemade Northeastern Chinese BBQ sauce. The fried pancake portion is huge and very filling. Sweet and Sour Pork is a signature dish of Northeast China. It is crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a vibrant sweet-and-sour glaze. a bit greasy, so it’s better shared among a group and great for an occasional treat. Love the ambiance—relaxed, cozy and good for gatherings. It is always busy, so reservations are recommended.
Had a great first dining experience here with my family. We ordered a variety of skewers, including the chicken feet, and everything was very flavourful. The seasoning is similar across the skewers, but still enjoyable. Prices start around $6.99 for 4 skewers. I also loved the shareable side dishes — the noodles and garlic cucumbers were delicious. The atmosphere was calm and cozy with dim lighting and different seating areas that made the space feel inviting. Service was excellent.
Located on Baldwin Street, about a seven-minute walk from St. Patrick station, Street Grill is a nice place to hang out and chill with friends on a night out! We found a Saturday night at 9 pm to be busy, but we were fortunate to secure a table for four with a bit of luck. The vibe is that of a typical skewer-focused casual spot, with a straightforward setup, efficient service and quick turnarounds! We ordered an assortment of skewers and found the seasoning to be consistent, well-balanced, delivering delicious flavours with a satisfying spice profile. The Braised Beef Shank and Cucumber with Aged Wheat Vinaigrette was delicious and reminded us of Korean cold noodles in a refreshing, lightly tangy profile. The Town Famous Sweet & Sour Pork is extremely popular and was sweet, which paired well with skewers. We also shared a pitcher of watermelon juice, and the staff informed us about a Buy One Get One offer. We instead got two for the price of one, as it was a thoughtful gesture that they advised us on the deal going on. The service was very efficient and attentive, with orders arriving promptly and plates being set up quickly to keep the pace moving. All the staff were very friendly, proactive and checked in enough to ensure our experience was well received. The interior and location feel practical for a casual night out, and the overall atmosphere supported a conversation-friendly dining flow.
Overall: 7.8/10 Just a heads-up, I have a very "American" palate and haven't ventured too far into traditional Asian spices, so keep that in mind. If you want a more expert take on the flavors, definitely check the reviews from the Chinese locals. Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was fun with Chinese music playing. My only complaint about the vibe was that the floor was a little wet, which I didn't love. I ordered q bunch of the skewers: • Beef Artery (6/10): Tasted okay but was a little rubbery, and the spices weren't really for me. • Chicken Gizzard (6.5/10): Similar texture to the artery but with a better taste. • Chicken Bites (6.5/10): Didn't have much flavor. • Pork Knee (7/10): Very crunchy but tasty. • Honey Lamb Rib (7.5/10): Pretty flavorful. • Teriyaki Beef (8/10): This one was really tasty. The Stir-fried Shredded Dough with eggs and pork (8/10) was great. It’s huge and could easily be a shared main dish for only 15 bucks. We made the mistake of ordering it after all the skewers and underestimated the size. For dessert, the Deep Fried Rice Dough with brown sugar (8.5/10) was delicious and they give you a lot. Just be careful, I pulverized my tongue trying to eat it hot, but that’s on me. The Bathroom (7.5/10): Small but clean.
