This place reminded me of an understated allô mon coco. A great stop for brunch or lunch with a group. The pricing is good and portions larger than expected. I basically ate one meal for the entire day. There are some clearly marked vegetarian options available. I tried The vegetarian eggs benedict. It was excellent but I'd recommend it to be split for those who tend to eat smaller portions. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The experience was very enjoyable. Would return in future.
This was a great spot to grab an affordable and filling breakfast near the Pantages hotel that we were staying at. It was a lot of food that we got for $12.99 a plate! The atmosphere and vibe was great as well, especially being seated in a secluded and quiet area in the restaurant. Our server was extremely friendly and upbeat which also added to the experience. My only note is that our seating looked dirty, but this was not a big issue.
I typically love a good diner experience. Unfortunately the food fell short for us. If you're going to Fran's, especially this location, stick to the breakfast. We had the lunch here and it was mediocre at best. Kids burger was dry, the Sheppard's pie had no taste, and the Ruben sandwich was way too salty (needed lots of water!) The service/server was excellent though and was a highlight of this meal.
I tried breakfast at Fran’s today and it was a really nice experience overall. The food was good, and the whole place has a warm nostalgic vibe. It was quite busy, so the service felt a bit fast-paced, but the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The portions were generous, and the breakfast itself was satisfying. It’s definitely one of those spots worth trying at least once for the nostalgia and unique diner feel. I’m glad I experienced it — a classic place that gives you a little taste of Toronto’s history..
Popped in after our show because I've heard so many things about this place. It wasn't over busy so we were seated right away. The atmosphere was good, relaxed and down to earth. Our waitress was good 👍🏾 friendly. The service was pretty quick foe our food. My friend ordered a plain burger and asked for a salad on the side as she cannot eat potatoes. That was a 3.75 uncharge. I ordered the chicken and waffle 🧇 and I have to say I was extremely disappointed 😞 The chicken should've been called batter with a hint of chicken and it's supposed to be spicy......still looking for the taste of spice anywhere. The waffle was pretty thin. I spent more time stripping the batter down because it was all dough. My plate was picked up with a side of batter. We ordered a slice of the colossal carrot cake and again super disappointed. The thinnest slice of cake, the price point for the cake is not worth it. My friend and I thought it would be a big enough slice to share. Nope. My friend liked her burger (she's on a special diet so she is limited in what she can eat) but my entire meal left me unfulfilled and eating when I came home later on.
