An absolute 5-star experience! Le Sélect Bistro never disappoints, but this visit was truly special. A huge thank you to our waiter, Michael, for recommending Friday's special. The way he described the dish was an art in itself—he explained it with so much passion that you could literally taste how delicious it was before it even arrived at the table! The meal was exceptionally flavorful and created a truly memorable evening. Major compliments to the chef for their incredible culinary skills. The dessert was also truly excellent! Highly recommend!
Came for summerlicious, and I think my favourite thing was the escargot! The trout was good too, but a little too salty. Rum cake was very moist, but I think presentation could've been slightly better. Service and ambiance was probably the best part, although it did get quite loud, so it was a bit hard to converse.
Le Select Bistro delivered a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Every dish we ordered was well-prepared and full of flavor. The oysters were incredibly fresh, clean, and briny—an excellent way to start the meal. The escargot was rich, buttery, and packed with garlic and herbs, making it one of the highlights of the evening. The steak tartare was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and served with crisp toasted bread that complemented it well. The pâté was also very good, smooth, flavorful, and paired nicely with the mustard, pickles, and crostini. The service made the experience even better. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and offered excellent recommendations that turned out to be spot on. It was clear they knew the menu well and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our meal. Overall, I was very happy with my visit to Le Select Bistro. Great food, fresh ingredients, excellent service, and a warm bistro atmosphere. I would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic French cuisine.
A truly authentic French bistro experience in the heart of Toronto. Le Sélect Bistro has a warm, classic Parisian atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great dining experience. The food is consistently well-executed, with traditional French dishes like steak frites, duck confit, and fresh seafood done properly and full of flavor. Everything feels simple, but very high quality. Service is attentive and professional without being overbearing, and the staff clearly know the menu well. The restaurant has a timeless charm that makes it perfect for both casual fine dining and special occasions. Overall, one of the best spots in the city if you want a real taste of French bistro culture.
Overall, this restaurant offers average food at a medium-to-high price point, with a fairly basic dining environment and below-average service. To break it down, we ordered the steak frites, duck confit, and crème brûlée. Among these, the crème brûlée stood out as the best dish—well-executed and enjoyable. The steak frites was quite underwhelming, mainly due to the fries, which tasted similar to standard fast-food fries with nothing particularly special. The duck confit was acceptable but leaned too salty for our taste. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. Our waiter seemed disengaged throughout the meal, water was only provided once, and there was a noticeable delay in bringing the menu. I’m not sure if this level of service is consistent for all guests, but our experience felt below expectations. We also visited for a special occasion—my wife’s birthday—and had noted it in our reservation in advance. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment or gesture from the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more disappointing. Overall, this is not a place we would choose to return to.
