One of the first Vietnamese/pho places in downtown Toronto's Chinatown, the iconic yellow and red signed restaurant recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Pictured are it's beef and chicken pho with noodles and other toppings. Each order comes with a side of bean sprouts and mint leaves. On the table are two different Sirancha sauces that could be added. Pho was filling and arrived quickly.
Been coming here for 27 years. Consistently good and fairly priced, so cheers! 🍻 The detail revu: One of the best pho places in the city. So consistent they are celebrating their 40th anniversary (with free pho on July 3rd! ... Yes, you read that right) on the tough competition that's on Spadina where a venue being expensive usually means bankruptcy. The menu was giant when I first came. The fact that I order the same two things usually is probably why they pared down the menu. Menu Item #1: yeah, that's the stuff you want unless your vegetarian or vegan. Menu Item #21: Deep Fried Spring Rolls with taro, pork, and shrimps and that magic sauce: Nước chấm. I've had probably hundreds of spring rolls across the GTA. I rank this top 3. And I can make the dish myself (it's just a lot of work for a resi kitchen) so believe me when I say you're good here for those. This is a great date place. Had a first date here when I was on a student budget after graduation. Today, I saw about 20% of the patrons on a date. What's not to love? Delicious eats and decent prices to speak of.
I was glad Pho Hung Restaurant was available near Toronto’s chinatown (Spadina/Dundas) because I loved Pho Hung Restaurant - Mississauga. So we ordered our usual favorite phos but somehow, theirs was quite salty! The springrolls were ok but their presentation was not that appealing. They seemed re-fried and we ate them anyway… Service was great… CASH ONLY; ATM machine’s available there. Place is just ok as well… Oh well, must be a bad day for us, so we’ll try other pho places in the area next time…
i don’t think i’ve ever had a bad lemongrass chicken rice dish — this was incredibly (and surprisingly) delicious. i wasn’t expecting much, but the aroma of the lemongrass, the slight crunchy char of the grilled chicken, and the bits of chewy, glutinous fat and skin along with that GORGEOUSLY fried egg with a golden yolk seeping into a warm bed of rice — just undeniably comforting. also so good with some sweet, umami-rich hoisin sauce and spicy sriracha kick. the cabbage on the side was also a nice refreshing crunch. portion is very reasonable for the price (definitely filling), and the food comes very quick
Really good spot for the price. Efficient service, friendly, food comes out quick. Well cooked and a great portion. Well worth a try. I tried the #41. Solid. Can't wait to try others.
