Our shuttle driver Rick recommended this pub. So happy he did, the stuffed mushrooms were a great start. The steak and onion pie was incredible. The onions were minced into the sauce, not large pieces. Even the fries were amazing. She enjoyed her wings. We shared a tasty Ceasar salad. I went with their Porter, great pairing. This pub is one of the oldest here, if you want a taste of England this is the spot. Laurence told me the steak pie reminded him of home, he was an excellent host. Cheers!
Popped in after a day of shopping and it really is an old style English pub. I ordered the Great Canadian burger with fries. In the time I was waiting, there was so much to look at, especially the large painting in the back. The food was delicious and filling. I regret not getting my servers name but he was young, blonde with blue eyes. 10/10 service. Definitely coming back next time I'm in the area. Thank you!
The chicken wings were excellent as was the steak poutine. The steak and kidney pie was hot and good. But the chips were barely warm and chewy. Vegetables were missing altogether. The chicken curry was warm in spots and cold in other parts! Waitress never came back to check on everything or for more drinks. When she eventually did 2 of our group were totally finished their meals so too late then for the other issues to be rectified. They took $4 off the bill! Very embarrassing - I had visitors from the UK. Food and service always excellent in the past 🤔
Olde Angel Inn is definitely a cool place to visit, especially when you consider the history behind it and its reputation as one of the area’s haunted landmarks. The historic atmosphere is easily the biggest draw, and it adds a lot of character to the experience. As for the food, it’s a pretty standard British pub. My wife and I enjoyed our meals, but nothing really blew us away. I had the Fish & Chips, which were decent, while my wife ordered the Fisherman’s Pie and enjoyed it. The fish throughout her dish was cooked well, and overall the food was solid. The menu itself is exactly what you’d expect from a British pub; comforting classics and traditional fare, but nothing particularly unique or revolutionary. The beer selection was a highlight. There are some great options on tap, and we especially enjoyed the Angel Pilsner. We also liked that they offer beer flights, which is always a fun way to sample a few different brews. Unfortunately, the service was a bit underwhelming. Our server was friendly and pleasant, but a little slow when it came to clearing dishes and checking in on us. We likely would have ordered another round or two if there had been a bit more attention paid to the table. Overall, the history, atmosphere, and beer are the main reasons to visit. Got the fish and chips with poutine instead of regular fries. I see why people say it’s the best pub. First time having poutine and it was fantastic. A member of our party got the steak and kidney pie but ended up not being a fan because they didn’t like the organ meat—trying something new. The server was great and friendly, food took a while, so expect a leisurely experience. The building was so cool.
