Food was decent, we got the sukiyaki and beef bone broth, they were both a bit too salty for my preference and had to keep chugging water. The meat quality was good, and overall quality of the food was good. I felt that the sauce bar and utensils could have been cleaner, and dispensable chopsticks should be used. Their chopsticks had stains as it was wood and didn't feel thay sanitary. Only 1 server was around but the restaurant was very empty on a thurs night. The ice cream at the end was good.

This place needs a lot of improvements. First off, when I called and asked if they take reservations, the lady on the phone said yes. Then I asked to reserve for a table of 4 that evening and she said walk-ins only for same day and resos are for advanced booking only. Why didn’t she just say that from the start? I was already slightly annoyed with how she handled the phone call. We arrived and got seated right away, it was a Saturday and only a few tables were occupied. The lady who picked up the phone could have mentioned the restaurant was not busy if she was better at communicating. This already set the precedent of bad customer service and my expectations were low. The menu is found on a QR code at the table. Our server was rude from the start - she knew it was our first time here but never bothered explaining the pricing, how to order, where the sauce bar was or where to even grab extra utensils. I asked her how the menu worked and she just pointed and said “well you can read it here”. WOW! It’s definitely a minimum wage job with minimum service. We ended up figuring everything ourselves. Not to mention, she was on her airpods the ENTIRE time. The other issue with this restaurant was the level of cleanliness with their utensils and dishes. 50 percent of the time, the items I grabbed from the self-serve WERE dirty. Either there were oil stains or leftover food bits stuck on the bowls or utensils. It was a huge turn off for me. The menu selection didn’t have a lot of variety and if you wanted the seafood part of AYCE, it will cost you a lot more. With two broths, the ‘premium’ AYCE and AYCE drink + a mandatory 12% service charge, it came down to $54 per person. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. The only good thing was the cut of meats were of highly quality and the broths were good. The three stars go to that and the other waitress who was nice to my table. Cash payments have 5% off the bill.

Matsutei Sukiyaki offers comforting Japanese hot pit in a warm and cozy atmosphere. They offer both AYCE hot pot and à la carte. There’s also AYCE drink option available. You can choose between many varieties of fresh ingredients: noodles and rice, vegetables, seafood, meat and broths. The sauce station makes crafting your own sauce easy and enjoyable. We visited for a weekday dinner and ordered the “Premium Set AYCE” and enjoyed the delicious hot pot and the vibes. For dessert, you can order soft serve ice cream and “Hanami Dango”. The staff are friendly and guide you through the experience. The service is fast and efficient.
