Amazing experience here overall. Amazing service, great food. Staff were very attentive and it was very clear that they cared about your experience and wanted you to leave happy. Everything was very flavorful. I especially liked the starter dishes. They easily accommodate dietary restrictions as well. We tried items on the summerlicious menu. Definitely want to try the personalized tasting menu next time!
Came here for a special occasion dinner, and now this just might be my new favourite restaurant in the city. Every single person there made my partner and I feel so welcome. I don't think I've ever had that experience before. We went with the premium tasting menu and it did not disappoint! Each dish was bursting with flavour. The quality and amount of food you get is well worth the price. But to be honest, I'll be revisiting for the service alone. Just amazing!
We visited Dailo for the first time after having a great experience at Lee Restaurant, and overall we really enjoyed it. We chose the $160 tasting menu, which included some off-menu dishes. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Staff were attentive, frequently refilling water, changing cutlery, and checking in on us. The food was creative and well-presented. The chef seems to enjoy using fresh herbs and bold flavors. A few dishes were a little too salty for our taste, especially one rice dish that we mentioned to our server. The team handled the feedback professionally and even checked later to make sure we were satisfied. Some highlights were a smoked trout dish with wonderful balance and complexity, a surprisingly interesting fried watermelon, and all three desserts, which were excellent. Portions were small for most courses, as expected with a tasting menu, but we appreciated the opportunity to try a wide variety of flavors and ideas. For us, the $160 menu felt like better value than the smaller tasting menu. A fun and memorable dining experience overall, with thoughtful service and some very creative dishes.
Really splendid tasting menu, packed with unique flavour combos, with a focus on richness and spice. It takes a fine menu to build the kind of anticipation that makes your mouth water, and DaiLo had me drooling. From the opening tom yum chawanmushi through the closing cornbread madeleine, hooks abound - my favourites were the surf ‘n’ turf tacos (pork belly and octopus with a root veg tortilla) and the preposterous double dumpling course that threatened to make me cry joyous salty tears, but there were no duds. Their staples (truffle fried rice and fried watermelon) were superb and their reputation is well justified. Finally, a note on the service - we came fairly early and so had the run of the place for a bit, and the waitstaff were knowledgeable, friendly, and generally made the meal greater than the sum of its parts. One of my favourite recent meals, this one’s going to stick with me for ages.
The classic tasting menu was delicious. For the price you’re paying, you definitely get plenty of food. I’d say every dish we had at least had one element that we thoroughly enjoyed. Some highlights for me were the eggplant, crispy octopus tacos, trout and the pork. I appreciated how despite being a surprise, you could ask to have some dishes included or excluded. So, I’d personally recommend trying to get those included. The haianese chicken was good but personally not my favourite of all the dishes which was probably the only disappointment of the night. They definitely benefitted from having the sauces paired with them though. I also ordered the dragonfruit cocktail which was solid. With a drink, tip and tax, it came out to be about the same price as the premium tasting menu price. The service was also great as the different servers were knowledgeable about the dishes and were attentive to anything we needed. I’d love to come again to retry some dishes and maybe get something new as well.
