We came here for lunch and had a great experience with the staff. Everyone was friendly, especially Alex, who took great care of us. Thanks to his recommendation, we tried one of the drinks, and it turned out to be excellent. For our meals, we ordered the burger and the fish & chips. I wouldn’t say they were amazing, but they were good overall. The fish & chips, however, were quite greasy, which took away from the experience. We also had the Caesar salad as a starter. It was decent, though I think it could have used a little more seasoning to bring out the flavors. One downside was the number of flies around the indoor seating area. There were so many that we constantly had to wave them away to keep them off our food, which made it difficult to fully enjoy our meal. Overall, the service was the highlight of our visit. Thanks again to Alex for the great hospitality and the excellent drink recommendation.
A quaint and cozy restaurant with very British Vibes. Food- First off, any English restaurant has to get Fish and Chips right. They don't disappoint, not too doughy not too greasy. Hot chocolate was excellent. The burgers were massive and tasty. Like the sweet potato fries. Service-Lily was super friendly and attentive. She told about the decor books. Atmosphere-great feel and decor.
Love this place! Would absolutely frequent it if I lived in the area. Yeah it's a bit pricy, as the lounge of a historic hotel in a picturesque, quaint tourist town - Niagara On The Lake. But it's very comfortable inside with excellent food and service. The decor is old fashioned high class with books on the shelves, a fireplace, etc. Our server was super nice and professional. Our food was fantastic! They have a variety of taps and drinks to choose from. They have very comfortable chairs, a nice fireplace, and checkerboards embedded in some of the window tables. There's a small proper bar. They also have covered outdoor seating. The bathroom was very clean and nice. The horse and carriage tours also seem to be right outside, at least when we went.
We enjoyed a late lunch at the Churchill Lounge in the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The setting is warm, elegant, and classic, with rich woodwork, comfortable seating, and that old-world hotel charm that makes you want to linger. The food was beautifully presented and every dish delivered. The Ale Battered Haddock & Chips was a standout — crisp, golden batter, flaky haddock, thick hand-cut fries, fresh coleslaw, and a classic tartar sauce that brought everything together perfectly. The English Garden Salad was fresh, colourful, and well balanced, with heritage greens, peas, radishes, tear drop tomatoes, cucumber, pickled red onion, and a bright sherry vinaigrette. Winston’s Caesar Salad was equally impressive: crisp romaine, generous parmesan, smoky double-smoked bacon, garlic crumbs, and a rich house dressing that felt indulgent without being too heavy. The drinks were just as enjoyable. The Whiskey Sour was smooth and refreshing, and the Old Fashioned was expertly made and nicely balanced. We finished with the Café Monte Cristo and Vatican Coffee, both beautifully presented and absolutely delicious — rich, warming, and the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the moment. Dessert was a perfect finale. The Blackberry & Lavender Crème Brûlée was delicate and refined with a beautifully torched top, while the Lemon Cheesecake Strudel was light, crisp, and full of bright flavour, especially paired with the sweet chili and pineapple ice cream and blood orange coulis. There was not a single complaint. Great food, excellent drinks, lovely presentation, and a beautiful lounge atmosphere. We would happily return.
I have been to the Churchill Lounge 4 times and it never disappoints. My favorite dish is the vegetable poutine which they discontinued as of today. But that’s OK because our amazing waiter had them make it for me for the last time ever! It was amazing. Thank you so much for the great service. I will savor these left overs!
