We took our cousin from Manitoba for his first ever experience with Thai food and Issan Der did not disappoint. Chef was excited to cook for us and show off her authentic Thai flavors! Food was amazing would recommend over and over! Staff was really friendly and attentive too. What a great experience. We loved our evening and left so full our tummy's hurt. Please try if you're looking for some amazing Thai food
This restaurant gave me more than just a delicious meal, it gave me a taste of home. 🇹🇭❤️ Every dish was full of authentic Thai flavors, from the comforting noodle soup to the spicy papaya salad, flavorful fried rice, and the beautifully presented mango sticky rice. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and made with so much care. What made the experience even more special was the owner. She was incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly, making us feel like family from the moment we walked in. You can truly feel the passion and love she puts into both the food and the service. As a Thai person living abroad, it’s not easy to find food that genuinely reminds me of my homeland, but this place brought back so many wonderful memories with every bite. If you’re looking for authentic Thai food, generous hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere, I highly recommend this restaurant. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. 🇹🇭🍚🥭
An absolute gem on Spadina! We are visiting from out of town and SO glad we stopped here. The food at Isaan Der is phenomenal, but the hospitality is what truly sets it apart. The owner, Chef Ko came out to chat with us and she is the absolute sweetest. She made us feel so welcome and right at home. We shared the Isaan somtum + tom yum pad thai, both of which packed an authentic punch. We also paired them with the yaang platter which was smoky and so satisfying (and has something for everyone!). The Thai boat noodles was also so rich and comforting! Can't recommend this spot enough. Excited to come back here!! Thank you, Chef Ko! 🥰
Had such a great experience at Isaan Der! The food was packed with flavour and felt very authentic. The standout for me was definitely the Khao Piek — the handmade rice noodles had an amazing chewy texture, and the rich pork broth was incredibly comforting. It reminded me a bit of Fujian-style noodle soup, but with its own unique twist. We also loved the sizzling seafood platter loaded with shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid. The sauce was spicy, fragrant, and perfect for sharing. The crab omelette rice was another highlight, with generous crab meat and a fluffy omelette on top. For appetizers, the platter was a great way to try a variety of snacks, and the crispy fried fish was light and well-seasoned. Don’t skip the fresh coconut water either — it paired perfectly with the bold flavours of the meal. Friendly service, generous portions, and lots of unique dishes you won’t find at a typical Thai restaurant. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu! 😊
Isaan Der's new Chinatown spot on Spadina is lively, colourful, and feels like a casual Thai bar more than a quiet, Warm, energetic atmosphere with upbeat music minimalist restaurant. I believe this is one of the best Thai restaurant in Toronto. Because I came to eat here more than 10 times. And I brought my friends to eat here so often. Really loved the vibe, the flavors, and the kind of meal that makes you want to stay for one more round. I love how they maintain authentic flavours and quality of their foods. MY RECOMMENDED: Khao piak sen, Gaeng Aom Moo, Tom Zaap Leng, Yaang Platter, Laab Moo Tod, Isaan Style Khanom Jean
