I took my family here for a birthday celebration a few weeks ago. The service and atmosphere were top notch (e.g. see attached pic of the dining room, including the stained glass style mural on the ceiling). Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and history of the David Duncan House. The table side caesar was entertaining, and the dressing was made from scratch in front of us. It absolutely tasted better than a pre-made dressing. The portions were generous and we barely had any room for dessert. Pictured are the bakclava ice cream, ek-mek dessert, picture of the dining room, table side caesar salad, scallops appetizer, steak entree, and the chateaubriand bouquetiere for two.

Overall, the food was really delicious. the quality and portion sizes were great. The place itself is beautiful and has such a nice atmosphere. We received good service overall, although sometimes it took a little while for our server to come check on us. One of the reasons I chose this place was because I had seen videos where some dishes and salads were prepared live right in front of the guests, which looked really fun and entertaining. Unfortunately, when we went, none of that was happening. I’m not sure if it was because we went on a weekday, but it was a bit disappointing to miss that experience. The environment is very calm and relaxing, which matches the vibe of the restaurant really well. Since it was my birthday, they were kind enough to bring me a small cake, which I really appreciated. Overall, we had a really lovely night.

I’ve been going to David Duncan House for years, and it is truly one of those steakhouses that has never declined in quality or service. I recently took my buddy there for his birthday; we explored the cocktail menu, and I ordered the filet mignon. The temperature was spot on—I honestly don’t think you can make a steak better than that. For dessert, we had the Irish and Spanish coffees, which were prepared with incredible artistry. Whether you’re looking for high-end cocktails or the best steak in Toronto, you need to check this place out. It’s one of the true hidden gems of the 6ix and comes highly recommended.

Absolutely a 5/5 experience at David Duncan House in Toronto. The food was excellent from start to finish. The ribeye beef was especially impressive when cooked medium rare — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. The seafood was also very good, fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. What stood out even more, though, was the overall atmosphere. David Duncan House has such a warm, elegant, and relaxing vibe that it makes the whole experience feel special. The environment is comfortable without being overly formal, and it creates the kind of setting where people can truly unwind, enjoy their meal, and have a great conversation. It feels refined, but still welcoming and easy. This is the kind of restaurant that works well for many occasions, whether it is a dinner with family, a date night, or a meal with friends or colleagues. The ambiance adds so much to the experience and makes you want to stay longer. Great food, lovely seafood, an excellent ribeye, and most importantly, a beautiful and calming environment. I would gladly come back again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Toronto.
