I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel it should be documented honestly and objectively. I arrived at around 9:30 PM and was seated at a clearly visible table near the water station. The restaurant was not busy, and I placed my order within five minutes. I ordered the Summer Set, which included seafood linguine and gelato, as well as a cocktail separately. At first I was happy, and i even took some pictures of this good-looking restaurant and shared with my friends. Since the pasta was the only item that needed to be prepared, I expected a reasonable wait. However, two tables of couples who arrived at least 20 minutes after I did received their food and were already eating while I still had nothing. My cocktail was served, and my water was refilled once during the first 20 minutes. After that, no one checked on me. I tried several times to get a server’s attention but was repeatedly overlooked. I first managed to speak to a server while they were attending to the table beside me. The server appeared to be in a hurry and briefly told me that my food would be coming soon before walking away, without checking the order status or giving me an opportunity to explain how long I had already been waiting. I finally managed to speak to a server while they were attending to the table beside me again. When I asked about my order, I was told, “Everything is in the system. There’s nothing I can do. I can ask the manager to come over if you want.” There was no offer to check with the kitchen, no explanation, and no apology. After waiting for some time and still not seeing the manager, I eventually stood up to find the manager myself. Just as I did, at approximately 10:25 PM, my pasta arrived. The manager was the same person who had greeted me when I entered the restaurant. I explained what had happened, and the manager said they would investigate. Until that point, despite the extremely long wait and my repeated attempts to ask for help, not a single staff member had apologized or offered any reassurance. The manager later confirmed that my order had indeed been overlooked and apologized. The restaurant first removed the charge for the Summer Set and later waived the cocktail as well. I appreciate that effort, and the manager was the only person who apologized to me. However, by then, I no longer wanted the gelato based on how they treated me, and did not have dessert. To be clear, mistakes can happen. What made this experience so disappointing was the lack of communication, follow-up, and basic empathy from the staff. This issue could have been avoided or resolved earlier, but it didn't because everything above The food was decent, and the space is nice, but no meal is worth being ignored for more than 50 minutes. I hope the restaurant improves its service procedures and staff training, because the food deserves much better service than what I experienced tonight
I've had the privilege of visiting this place for the very first time today and I must say I highly recommended this sport for fine authentic Italian cuisine. The staff, waitresses were friendly, professional, and always on top to ensure your comfort and experience was optimal. Your cup of water was always refilled without ever having to call them over and ask for it to be refilled. The food is second to none. Authentic, delicious, and just outstanding. Second to none. The food is authentically Italian. Truly, premium, delicious, and second to none. I highly recommend this spot for those wanting to try an authentic italian cuisine.
The food was really good. The fritti and the lasagna were amazing.. The shrimp was cooked the best i've ever had.. And that's literally the best lasagna i've ever had outside of home. The gnocchi was pillows of deliciousness, and the carbonara was so good... but the portions are a bit small - i suggest you order a salad and bread with it (Although someone told me that they got a breadbasket when they ate there. But no one said anything about a breadbasket to us or offered it to anyone else around us that I saw). Our service was as good as it could be but it was one person was covering a large area. The restaurant was pretty hot and my caesar drink was warm when it came, but cooled off with the ice cubes, it was also in a skinny glass so it was very strong. The buddino was "meh". It was pretty dark chocolate flavored. Sorry..It sounds like a very mixed review..but even with the negative things I would go again. We went when the jay's game was on so the restaurant had cleared out -Before and after it is so packed.... All of what's in the pictures plus a Shirley temple and a shared bottle of sparkling water was about $260. Took an uber there, which worked out great.
Great Italian tavern with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The food was fresh, tasty, and beautifully served. We loved the pasta, seafood, burger, crispy fries, and the refreshing floral lemonade. A lovely place for dinner with family or friends. Highly recommend!
Had a great dining experience at Taverna Mercatto. The ambience is beautiful and sets the tone for a relaxed, upscale Italian meal. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. We started with their fresh bread, then the Arancini, which were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside a great way to begin the meal. Then ordered their Margherita Pizza which was warm and crisp crust, perfect for sharing For mains, we ordered the Seafood Pasta, which was easily the highlight. It was rich, well-seasoned, and packed with fresh seafood, making it both comforting and satisfying. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious, and the entire experience was very enjoyable. Taverna Mercatto delivers on both food and ambience, and I would definitely recommend it.
