Experience was overall ok. Though not sure if it was worth the 160$ bill for my date and I. Service had some highs and lows where they excelled and missed some points on. My date had the flank steak, I had the seafood boulainaise. We shared a grilled squid and creme brule. The premium was definately for the Rosedale location, atmosphere and French cache. Food was satisfactory but not anything worth raving about. Guess I may have had too much expectations for this place? Left a little disappointed given all the raving reviews and other more competitive offerings at other restaurants.
We had a good experience at Sorrel Restaurant in Rosedale. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the service was friendly and attentive. I had mentioned the reservation was for my husband’s birthday, and while everything else went smoothly, it was a bit disappointing that no one acknowledged or wished him — something other restaurants usually do. The seating also felt a bit tight with tables placed quite close together. That said, the overall experience was positive, and we still enjoyed our evening.
Edit: October 18, 2025 Second attempt at this restaurant was worse than the first, which surprised me after reading all of the great reviews. I’ve been to many top rated restaurants, and this is not even close. The food is well prepared and presented however, the portions are small. The service is average. I think a three star is generous for what I experienced. My biggest issue with the second visit was the fish that I ordered. I was assured there would be no bones however there was way too many bones to enjoy the meal. Last but not least, the crème brûlée was excellent, however not freshly made, which also surprised me for being a French restaurant. This did not, however, take away from my first experience, which review follows: Great food, okay service, however extremely loud. Sounded more like a sports bar. I think everyone was talking at once. We went on a Wednesday thinking it wouldn’t be packed, but this place was packed, inside and outside. Way too loud to enjoy the meal. The duck was excellent. Dessert was really good as well. The French vanilla ice cream was the best I think I’ve ever had.
