Stopped by Juicy Dumping on our weekend visit to Toronto per recommendations from a friend, and I'm glad we did! Probably some of the best soup dumplings I've ever had and for an extremely reasonable price! Highly recommend if you're in the area, you won't regret it!
I’ve been coming here for a long time, and while the dumplings are amazing, I’m very disappointed with the service I had just now. For the classic soup pork dumplings, there has been this deal for the longest time - buy two for $4.99, get the 3rd dumpling for $2.99, as long as the total is $10 without tax. Well I went in today, and my order total was $9.98. Legally, you round up since pennies are not a thing anymore. The cashier refused to give me the deal, and instead pointed to the drink menu to make the difference. This left an incredibly sour taste in my mouth. What a bad practice. I ended up only buying 2 at full price. I love your dumplings, but I am incredibly disappointed and angry with this new scam. I do not want to come back.
Walked by old dragon city mall complex, the big sign for soup dumpling couples with the crowd inside made me curious. The soup dumplings are definitely well made, great flavour of the soup inside and good amount of filling. Nice and soft dough. Pretty good price of $4.99 for 6 pieces. I would definitely go back to try again and even check out other items on the menu. 3/5 for atmosphere cause the table and floor was pretty filthy. But if you're doing takeout then it's all good.
This place has found a way to make a perfect soup dumpling (xiao long bao) each time. I’m not saying their dumpling itself is perfect, but it’s a damn-good, mouthwatering dumpling, and their ability to consistently make this dumpling for masses of people everyday is something special. I’ve eaten their dumplings on a Wednesday, a Friday, a Saturday, in person, by delivery, indoors, outdoors, when I wanted a dumpling, and when I just wanted some joy, and they’ve delivered on their promise each time. A big logistical problem with xiao long bao is how delicate they can be—steam them too much and the soup-to-filling ratio is off, or the dumpling bursts, either from poor cooking procedures or careless handling. But each dumpling I ever received from this place—and there have been a lot of dumplings—has been perfect. The dumpling wrapper sticks just right to the liners in their bright red, “Juicy Dumpling” branded paper boxes, and they always arrive intact, whether you’re carrying them from the counter to your table or all the way home. They serve other items here: pan-fried dumplings, wonton noodle soups, deep fried foods, and some rotating specialty items, depending on the time of year. But the xiao long bao is the staple. I’ve always wondered about the machinations of the operation—do they really make these handcrafted, fresh daily? What does an operation like that look like? But it’s always too busy to ask. Just like the name of the shop, the dumplings are juicy and flavorful. Both the steam and fried versions were delicious. There are plenty of seating inside.
