They were not kidding about the portion size! Me and my friend split one of the pork donkatsu + an extra bowl of rice and we only barely managed to almost finish it. We also ordered a cheesy corn which was super cheesy and not too sweet. The katsu itself had an amazing crust, light and crispy even in the sauce. I’ve never had the brown sauce before and it had a sweet and tomatoey flavor. It’s not personally my preferred flavor combo but still a lovely meal overall. If I were to go back I think I’ll order the curry sauce instead.
Price might seem a bit high but the portions are quite large and the food quality is good. The katsu breading was very crispy and the sauce had a good flavour. I went with spice level 1 but I should have probably gone with 2, 1 didn't have much discernible spice to me. Beer was served with a literally frozen glass, which was very nice.
TLDR, newspaper eat. Called around 3pm, waitress said there would be a 40 minute wait. Arrived at 3:40, about 3-4 open tables. I guess they were pretty busy before, since the watiress was in that mood, or else, anyway, no body served water until 20 minutes after. Got the food at 4:20 (yeah, ive got call logs and photos to keep everything on track) the cheese is ok. Everything else? meh. The donkatsu looks big, thats true, and they are very thin, its much thinner than the Japense donkatsu we've had, and its very heavily breaded. Not much flavour to talk about, honestly. It tastes pretty average, the sauce is underwhelming and basic, with less depth than McDonald’s sauces. We wondered why the the high Google Review score then? and started reading the reviews, turned out they have free soda in exchange for a 5-star review thing going on. Huh! $62.03 after tax and tips.
First time visit. Ordered the original pork katsu, and the carbonara chicken katsu. Both were not bad, I preferred the chicken. They both tasted similar, the only difference was the sauce. Its on the heavy side, since its deep fried. So be ready to drink lots of water. Appreciate the large portion of meat for the price you are paying.
I really appreciated how kind all the staff were and how hard they worked. I’m sorry for coming close to closing time. Even with takeout, I could still enjoy the same high-quality tonkatsu. The portions are generous, it’s crispy on the outside, and the inside of the pork cutlet is juicy and tender. 🥹🥹Everything about the experience was perfect. 😊❤️❤️🌸
