Friendly people I met, Thank you for the great experience! 😊 Definitely will come back and try the social paddles on Thursday and Friday nights next time for a guided experience spotting more birds 🦅 and nature! 🍃
I had an excellent experience with this kayaking course. The instructor-to-student ratio was approximately 1:3, so everyone received plenty of individual attention from Eric, Peter, and Bizz. Sometimes Lizz will join us as well. The course was very well organized, and the instructors also adjusted each session based on the weather, water conditions, and the abilities of the students. For example, our Canada Day session was expected to have thunderstorms and whitecaps, so the instructors discussed the situation with us and rescheduled the class for safety. Before and after each session, the instructors checked in with us about what we had learned and how we were feeling physically. They made sure that everyone understood the techniques rather than simply following a fixed lesson plan. During my first session in a Zephyr kayak, I found the boat a little bit hard to control and fell, so the instructor switched me to a Tsunami 165 to give me greater stability and help me learn more confidently. In addition to kayaking techniques, we also learned about weather conditions, navigation and right-of-way rules, kayaking equipment, and how to plan a safe trip. The course provided much more than basic paddling instruction—it helped us develop the knowledge and judgment needed to become safer and more independent kayakers. Overall, it was a very professional, thoughtful, and enjoyable learning experience. I highly recommend this course and sincerely appreciate the guidance from Eric, Peter, Bizz and Lizz.
Participated in the one day kayaking course. The 6 person group was led by Michael, who was very knowledgeable, patient and safety conscious. Booking process and sign in was efficient, course started on time and we headed to the island shortly after 9:30am start time. Good variety of kayaks available. Some were a little banged up but that's reasonable for rental boats. Our course was on a sunny and warm Saturday. A hat, water/drinks and sunscreen are musts. If you're doing a day course, make sure to bring a lunch as there is nothing readily available where you stop. The course was very informative. We learned basic paddling with some more advanced techniques. We paddled through flat water around the island and choppier water on the lake. We enjoyed the choppy water without feeling unprepared. A fun day on the water. I'd recommend to anyone wanting to learn basics or refresh skills.
My team and I had an absolute blast with Paddle Toronto for our corporate event on July 10, 2026! From the very start, the booking process was a breeze, and the logistics leading up to the big day were completely seamless. Our guide, Michael, was incredible and made the experience truly special. We set off in a voyager canoe right from the shadow of the CN Tower and paddled over to Toronto Island, where Michael shared some fantastic local history and fun facts. We saw a ton of local wildlife along the way, and it truly couldn't have been a better day on the water. A huge shout out and thank you to Richard as he was amazing to speak and correspond with and of course our guide Michael who put up with us in person! Highly recommend them for team outings!
Great introduction to sea kayaking. Michael's gentle manner put all types of people at ease. I learned several useful skills and I think my stroke improved. The abundant wildlife, and Michael's wide knowledge about the local biome, was a bonus. A lovely evening!
