Look, after a brutal, high-intensity week in the financial district, I don’t want to sit in a quiet room and sip a micro-dose of organic wine. I need cold drinks, massive portions & a place with enough noise to completely drown out my work thoughts. The Loose Moose has been my absolute go-to spot near Union Station for exactly that reason. The scale of this place is massive. It is loud, unapologetic & has a raw, high-velocity energy that hits you the second you walk through the door. It’s the quintessential sports hub - screens everywhere showing the game, a massive central bar structure & a crowd that’s always down for a good time. If you are looking for a delicate, intimate candle-lit vibe, you are in the completely wrong zip code. What makes this place a statistical anomaly in the best way is their tap selection. They have over 80 varieties of beer on tap—easily one of the largest rosters in downtown Toronto. The turnover rate is high, so the lines are exceptionally clean and the pours are consistently fresh and crisp. I usually go for a local Ontario IPA or an amber ale, and the bartenders handle the immense weekend volume like absolute machines. You are never standing around waiting for a drink. The kitchen doesn't cut corners on fuel either. The food is heavy, savory & engineered for maximum recovery after a long day. Their chicken wings are elite tier - massive, perfectly crispy skin & actually tossed in proper, high-impact sauces, not just lightly drizzled. Pair that with a mountain of their loaded nachos, and you have the perfect setup for a long sports night with a big group of colleagues. It’s big, it’s chaotic & it runs with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine. When you want to drop the corporate facade, watch the game & get a proper, no-nonsense pub experience in the core of the city, this is the ultimate destination. Absolute powerhouse of a bar.
The atmosphere and the service here are amazing. The food is actually five star worthy, however when we arrived the drinks were slightly watered down. For that, and only that, I'm giving this establishment a four out of five. This is still a place that I highly recommend.
Good place to drink beer and watch a game on the big screens. Tried the Buffalo Fried Chicken Express Lunch Special. Enjoyed the sandwich. Would recommend getting the side salad instead of the fries otherwise it’s too much fried food. Menu is more limited than their neighbours/partners Jack Astors.
Really solid spot downtown. We started with the calamari — crispy, well-seasoned, and a good size to share. I had the fish and chips, which were fresh and light with a nice thin batter. My friend got The Woody burger and was happy with it — good flavour, generous portions. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun without being overwhelming, and the beer selection is impressive. Great place to grab a meal near Union Station. Would definitely come back.
Great place to grab a bite before a game. Atmosphere is fun, a little loud but proximity to stadiums it's a good place to eat and get excited to watch a game or concert. I had dinner with me son and it was pretty good. My son had the fish and chips, little pricey for a one piece but it was good and worth the money, very thin batter which was great. I had the bacon cheese burger and it was very enjoyable, great flavour, good size. Had a side of the hot sauce for dipping my fries and the sauce was delicious. Service was fast and friendly and the washroom was clean. Been here many times over the years and will be back again.
