We were in Toronto for a few days, stopped at this British themed pub to watch the England World Cup game. Underwhelming would be a great description of the place and food, our flatbread pizza was barely warm as if the kitchen staff had barely unwrapped it, warmed it to a luke warm temperature. (The burger was better.)
Stopped by Firkin on the Harbour and ordered the England Burger, and it definitely hit the spot. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, with fresh toppings and a soft bun that held everything together without falling apart. The fries were hot and crispy, making it a great meal overall. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. It's a great place to grab a bite, especially if you're looking for a hearty burger and a casual pub experience. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Popped in to watch the Champions League final. I asked what was available on draft and the answer was "a lot." Cool. I wasn't offered a menu. I ordered a Dos Equis. I'm not saying it's a requirement that it comes with a lime wedge but I think that's somewhat standard. Or at least the bartender generally asks. Once the draft was down, it was the last time I saw the bartender until I went to pay my bill. I absolutely would've had a 2nd and maybe a 3rd, it was the mid-afternoon and I probably would've ordered a snack as well. It was my last day downtown and I was looking to enjoy myself. There were several other guys at this end of the bar and one guy did everything he could to get the bartender's attention until he had to walk to the other end to ask for another drink. Whenever I looked for the bartender, they were either talking to staff with their back turned to the crowd or they were looking at their phone. I don't say this lightly, this was the worst service I've ever received. This is likely a one-off experience but wow, it was not good.
Totally acceptable pub grub. I did go early morning for the gold medal game, so I’m not sure if breakfast is their forte - the sausage (banger perhaps) was super juicy and the tots pleasantly crunchy, but overall fair to middling.
My favorite pub in all of Toronto. This has been my standard watering hole for 10-15 years! Thanks to Anna and her dedicated team for the greatest atmosphere, drinks and great food!!
