As a part of my Sperm Donation World Tour of Canada as part of the Wednesday night pub crawl by the planet traveller hostel last stop was here. Good bar with Karokee happening and everyone getting into it.
Handlebar is a small bar with a great local feel, especially if you enjoy live music. It’s a good place to grab a drink, hang out with friends, and hear local artists perform in a more intimate setting. Some events may be paid or ticketed, so it’s worth checking ahead of time before going, especially if you’re planning around a specific show.
Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this bar. I went solo on a Tuesday night and stayed from 10:00 to 2:00. The bar staff were welcoming and helpful. The open mic portion of the evening featured talented musicians (for the most part). Otherwise, the DJ kept some good alternative rockin' tunes playing. I had a really memorable conversation with a pair of other musicians, but also enjoyed just sitting around the bar and participating in the group vibe once the evening grew late. Before the night was done, I felt like I belonged, more or less. Looking forward to visiting Handlebar again next time I'm in town!
